Job summary

The Town of Peace River seeks casual Lifeguards and Lifeguard/Instructor L1s for the Peace Regional Pool. Candidates must possess strong communication skills, relevant first aid certifications, and a commitment to ensuring a safe and enjoyable environment for all patrons. This role offers flexible hours, primarily evenings and weekends.

Qualifications

  • First Aid certificate recognized by O.H.S. with CPR-C and AED required.
  • WHMIS certificate or willingness to obtain is necessary.
  • Child Intervention Check needed.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Shift Supervisor and staff in providing recreational opportunities.
  • Prevent injuries and perform general lifeguarding duties.
  • Teach lessons in a safe environment.

Job description

  • Lifeguard/Instructor L1: $21.81 per hour
    Hours: Casual, evenings and weekends
    Closing Date: Open until suitable candidates are found

The Town of Peace River is looking for energetic and responsible individuals to join our team at the Peace Regional Pool as casual Lifeguards and/or Lifeguard/Instructor L1’s.

The successful candidates will be responsible to the Shift Supervisor, and will assist the other staff members in providing maximum opportunities for the public to enjoy recreational activities at the Peace Regional Pool. They are active in preventing injuries, provide general lifeguarding duties and teaching lessons.

General Qualifications:

  • First Aid certificate recognized by O.H.S. with CPR-C and AED
  • WHMIS certificate or willingness to obtain
  • Minimum Grade 9 or equivalent
  • Child Intervention Check
  • Good public relations skills both on the phone and in person

Lifeguard Qualifications:

  • National Lifeguard Award
  • Age Requirement: must be a minimum of 3 months prior to 16 years old. This will allow for a training period before active guarding commences at 16 years old.

Lifeguard/Instructor L1 Qualifications:

  • Minimum 16 years of age
  • Combination of the above

These positions fall within the scope of C.U.P.E. Local 898 and as such, you will be required to adhere to the articles contained within the Collective Agreement.
