The Opportunity

Reporting directly to the Aquatic Coordinator, the Lifeguard 3 is responsible for delivering the highest quality of; lifeguarding, lesson instruction, and advanced course delivery to patrons at the Manluk Centre. Additionally, the Lifeguard 3 will record accurate water chemistry readings, complete provincial water samples, and oversee the use of aquatic equipment to ensure that safe work procedures are being followed. The Lifeguard 3 will assist the Aquatic Coordinator with lifeguard training, in-service preparation, and employee scheduling. This position is responsible for preventing injuries through active lifeguarding techniques and public education. The Lifeguard III will also oversee, assist, and complete maintenance tasks, administrative tasks, and other such duties when required.

The employee is responsible for full cooperation with all aspects of the City’s Occupational Health and Safety program, including compliance with all rules and regulations, and for continually practicing safety while performing their duties, and monitor and enforce subordinate compliance with the OH&S program.
**Please note: This position involves a two-part interview process. Candidates who successfully complete the in-person interview will be invited to participate in a second, in-water assessment. The in-water interview will be conducted at the Manluk Centre to assess the candidate's swimming proficiency and lifeguarding skills. During this phase, candidates will be expected to demonstrate their swimming abilities, rescue techniques, and other key competencies relevant to the position, whether it be for lifeguarding, instructing, or both.
Before commencing employment, the successful candidate must provide all necessary certifications and documentation including but not limited to a driver's abstract, and employment related record checks.
