About The Job

Reporting to the Manager, Community Care Facility Licensing, and working collaboratively with the Medical Health Officer, this role involves developing, coordinating, and evaluating policies, procedures, protocols, processes, and systems for Community Care Facility Licensing. The position requires a broad knowledge of healthcare, administrative law, relevant provincial legislation, program development, leadership, and consultation to promote professional licensing practices. The Practice Consultant serves as a specialist resource, providing guidance, research, and educational support to Licensing Officers and leadership in program development, technical advice, and quality improvement initiatives. They offer consultative support across the Community Care Facility Licensing program.

Typical Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provides leadership by developing and implementing policies and operational procedures that adhere to professional standards, evidence-based practices, and accreditation standards for the licensing program.
  • Maintains current knowledge of licensing legislation, policies, and standards; revises and updates operational procedures as approved.
  • Shares licensing expertise through newsletters, policy updates, website content, and presentations.
  • Supports internal process development, such as SharePoint and Teamsite.
  • Participates in program evaluation and quality improvement processes.
  • Supports Licensing Leadership and Officers with complex files, investigations, and compliance, ensuring approaches align with risk management, equity, fairness, legislation, and policies.
  • Provides technical guidance during complex case management, conducts field audits, and prepares reports with recommendations for improvements.
  • Coordinates and supports orientation and training for new licensing staff, including mentorship post-delegation.
  • Promotes skill development and consistent practice among licensing staff through coaching and mentorship.
  • Collaborates on developing educational programs, workshops, and training materials, utilizing established programs or creating new standard work processes.
  • Supervises practicum placements for students in relevant programs.
  • Monitors quality practice through audits, meetings, and feedback, recommending corrective actions when necessary.
  • Engages with internal and external stakeholders to elevate the licensing portfolio.
  • Leads special projects and LEAN initiatives as needed.
  • Participates in committees and performs other duties as assigned.
