Job summary

Manitoulin Transport is seeking a skilled Heavy Duty / Truck and Trailer Mechanic to perform maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs on our fleet. You will work safely under OH&S standards, complete work orders, and keep the fleet safe and operational.

The role involves brakes, electrical and emissions work, suspension and chassis repairs, fabrication, and bodywork. Night shifts (6PM–6AM) with a $5,000 sign-on bonus for Journeyman status.

Qualifications

• Journeyperson status preferred; apprentices will also be considered.
• Work safely in accordance with Occupational Health & Safety standards.

Responsibilities

• Remove, inspect, and replace brakes, drums, hubs, seals, bearings, and races.
• Troubleshoot and repair lighting systems, electrical components, and emissions systems.
• Inspect, repair, or replace chassis components (springs, hangers, equalizers, complete slider assemblies, axles, sub-frames, air ride components, and air systems).
• Repair or replace bumpers, braces, mud flap brackets, and dolly legs using cutting torches (oxy-acetylene) and welding techniques.
• Perform minor repairs on doors, door trim, flooring, rub rails, roof sections, nose panels, and upper/lower rails.
• Maintain a clean, organized personal workspace during and at the end of every shift, and assist with additional operational tasks as needed.
• Night Shift – Pitman Schedule (2x2x3). Hours: 6PM - 6AM. $5,000 Sign-On Bonus for Licensed Technicians (Journeyman status).

Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Heavy Duty / Truck and Trailer Mechanic to perform regular maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs on our fleet equipment. In this role, you will work safely in accordance with Occupational Health & Safety standards, complete work orders accurately, and ensure our fleet remains safe and operational.

Key Responsibilities

Brakes & Wheel Ends: Remove, inspect, and replace brakes, drums, hubs, seals, bearings, and races.

Electrical & Emissions: Troubleshoot and repair lighting systems, electrical components, and emissions systems.

Suspension & Chassis: Inspect, repair, or replace chassis components (springs, hangers, equalizers, complete slider assemblies, axles, sub-frames, air ride components, and air systems).

Structural & Fabrication: Repair or replace bumpers, braces, mud flap brackets, and dolly legs using cutting torches (oxy-acetylene) and welding techniques.

Valid CVIP (Commercial Vehicle Inspection Program) Inspector License is a strong asset.

Class 1 Commercial Driver's License (CDL) is considered an asset.
