Job summary

A municipal government is seeking a Licensed Technician 2 in Kitchener to join its award-winning Fleet team. The team is dedicated to sustainability with responsibilities for maintaining and repairing a diverse fleet of vehicles. Candidates should have a valid mechanic certification and at least 3 years of experience. Join an award-winning Fleet team that is dedicated to sustainability and corporate performance as being ISO 14001 certified with a fleet of over 1500 vehicles.

This is an excellent opportunity to join a team who are responsible for the maintenance, repair, registration, acquisition, and disposal of fleet vehicles and equipment as well as the training and legislative requirements around vehicle licensing, vehicle and equipment inspections, and Commercial Vehicle Operator Registration (CVOR).

Requirements

  • Minimum Grade 12 education or equivalent.
  • Minimum 3 years' experience in current motive power repair, fabrication and operating.
  • Valid Certificate of Qualification from the Ontario College of Trades - 310T - Truck & Coach Technician, 310S - Automotive Service Technician, and/or 421A - Heavy Duty Equipment Technician will be considered.
  • Valid MTO Class DZ license in good standing or ability to acquire a DZ license within 9 months of hire.
  • Previous work experience in a mechanical area and must be mechanically inclined.
  • Must possess all hand tools applicable to the trade.
  • Ability to work different shifts and on-call duties as required (Shift Premiums applied on top of base salary).
  • Overtime hours are available based on operational needs.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
  • Reliable with a good attitude and employment record.
