Job summary

The Building Service Person 1 – Roofing Mechanic at the University of Waterloo participates in roofing and building envelope maintenance, performing corrective and preventive work on roof systems, flashings, and related exterior envelope components.

The role is full-time and permanent, requires a 449A Red Seal as a licensed roofer, five years of roofing experience, and strong safety, teamwork, and communication skills to serve the campus community.

Qualifications

• OSSD required; Red Seal 449A certification for roofing.
• 5+ years of roofing experience preferred.
• Knowledge of roofing membranes and building envelope components.
• Ability to read drawings and perform material takeoffs.
• Valid Ontario G-class driver's license required or must obtain.
• Safety and health compliance knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Inspect and maintain roof flashings and exterior envelope components.
• Perform roof repairs and damp-proofing.
• Participate in rooftop preventative maintenance program.
• Assist with material sourcing and coordination with external suppliers.
• Provide excellent customer service to campus stakeholders.
• Follow safety policies and use PPE as required.
