The Licensed Practical Nurse plays a vital role within our communities, impacting residents' lives and fostering human connection.

As a Licensed Practical Nurse, your typical day will include:

1. Providing nursing care according to established policies, physician’s orders, the resident’s care plan, and within the scope of an LPN. Applying sound nursing principles to deliver excellent nursing and personal care in your assigned areas.
2. Managing the supply, control, and safekeeping of drugs and narcotics, and adhering to protocols on all shifts.
3. Creating a safe, comfortable environment that respects privacy, dignity, autonomy, independence, and individual lifestyles and values.
4. Maximizing each resident’s potential to maintain or achieve optimal functional ability.
5. Seeking guidance from the RN when resident needs exceed your experience or scope of practice.
6. Reporting any changes in a resident’s condition promptly to the RN and taking appropriate action.
7. Fostering a collaborative atmosphere with team members, monitoring care, communicating with residents and families, and guiding Personal Support Workers and other team members.
8. Coordinating with medical team members, nurse specialists, and consultants to ensure effective clinical care.
9. Continuously evaluating your nursing practice and learning needs.
10. Participating in in-service programs, conferences, seminars, and workshops.
11. Documenting care priorities, strategies, and interventions to achieve the best outcomes.
12. Collaborating with residents, families, and the interprofessional team to gather data, assess, and document ongoing care needs.
13. Performing additional duties as assigned.

Must haves:

• Diploma in Practical Nursing.
• Current registration as a Licensed Practical Nurse with the College of Nurses BC.
• Successful completion of RAI MDS certification annually, as per Ministry of Health requirements.
• Current First Aid and CPR certification.
• Successful Vulnerable Sector Check (Ontario applicants).
• Successful Criminal Records Check (British Columbia applicants).

Wage rate: $32.84 - $41.35 per hour until wage leveling ends; thereafter, pay will reflect the collective agreement rates.
