Title: Licensed Practical Nurse, Primary Care

Salary: $67,840 - $80,817 per year (pay range explained below)

Contract: Regular, Part-time

Hours: 11.25 Hours per week

Location: Williams Lake, Interior BC

Bargaining Unit: PIPSC BCFNHA Group (Professional Institute of the Public Service of Canada)

About The Role

The Licensed Practical Nurse is part of a collaborative, multi-disciplinary team that provides team-based, trauma-informed care by creating a culturally safe environment in order to promote, maintain and/or restore client health, at all stages of life, with stable or predictable states of health.

This position provides care and service that meets the standards for Licensed Practical Nurses within the BC College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM); and works within the scope of practice for Licensed Practical Nurses as determined by relevant legislation.


About You
Education and Experience
  • Diploma from a recognized Practical Nursing education program and two years of recent experience. Completion of an advanced nursing foot care training program is an asset.
  • Current registration in good standing with the BCCNM.
  • Current CPR Certification
  • Experience in delivering health services in a First Nations setting
  • Experience in foot care preferred

Knowledge
  • Strong knowledge of cultural safety, humility and trauma-informed approaches to care;
  • Knowledge of, and ability to apply, an understanding of First Nations cultural principles and protocols in work situations;
  • Knowledge and the application of concepts, principles, and theories of trans-cultural nursing, including knowledge of traditional, homeopathic or other healing practices used in the community;
  • Knowledge of First Nations cultures and backgrounds, and the understanding of how culture impacts on communication patterns, and attitudes and approaches to health issues;
