Alberta Health Services, Rockyview General Hospital, is seeking an LPN to join the Maternal Child health care team in a postpartum unit with neonatal and surgical care elements. You will deliver nursing care for postpartum women and their newborns, and assist with pre- and post-operative nursing tasks in a busy teaching environment.
The role emphasizes patient-family centered care, teamwork, and strong clinical skills in cardiopulmonary resuscitation, assessment, and teaching.
Your Opportunity:
Unit 64 is a 33-bed unit at Rockyview General Hospital with 28 Postpartum beds and 5 Surgical beds. The focus of care on the unit is Maternal-Child (Postpartum women and their newborns). Because of the fluctuations in our maternal-child patient population, Unit 64 also provides pre-operative and post-operative care for surgical patients from general surgery, urology, gynecology, and orthopedics. The nurse-to-patient ratio expectation is 1 nurse to 4 mother-baby dyads or 1 nurse to 5 surgical patients. As a Licensed Practical Nurse, you will demonstrate competence in delivering safe, effective, and efficient care in accordance with all elements of the current job description for Licensed Practical Nurses and as defined by the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Alberta (CLPNA) Standards of Practice.
You will be a member of the Maternal Child health care team, collaborating on the delivery of holistic and comprehensive care to meet the needs of postpartum women, including pre- and post-operative surgical care, and newborns within the context of their family.
Nursing care includes assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation with the purpose of facilitating physical recovery and / or promotion of health within a fast paced and dynamic teaching environment. You will utilize nursing processes, through critical thinking, problem solving and decision-making, as well as teach and advocate on behalf of patients and their families.
Description:
As a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), you are part of an interprofessional health care team, utilizing nursing processes, critical thinking, problem solving, and decision making skills. You will be guided by your education, experience, and demonstrated skill level, in alignment with applicable legislation, standards of practice, policies, and procedures. You will play a key role in providing safe, high quality, patient and family centred care while reflecting the shared vision and values of the organization.
