The Licensed Practical Nurse is a critical role within our communities as it impacts the lives of residents and ignites the warmth of human connection.
Responsibilities
- Providing nursing care in accordance with established policy, physician’s orders, and the resident plan of care, while utilizing sound nursing practice principles.
- Ensuring the supply, control, and safekeeping of drugs and narcotics, and following protocols on all assigned shifts.
- Creating a comfortable and safe environment that provides opportunities for privacy, dignity, autonomy, independence, and individuality.
- Optimizing each resident’s potential to achieve or maintain maximum functional ability.
- Seeking direction from the RN when resident needs exceed experience or scope of practice.
- Exercising sound nursing judgment by reporting any change in resident’s status in a timely manner to the Registered Nurse.
- Fostering an atmosphere conducive to optimal care through collaboration with other team members and communication with residents and family members.
- Liaising with medical team members and nurse specialists to support effective clinical care for residents.
- Continually assessing personal nursing practice and learning needs.
- Participating in in-service programs, conferences, seminars, and workshops.
- Documenting priorities, target dates, and strategies or interventions on the individualized care plan.
- Working with residents, family members, and the interprofessional team to collect data for nursing history and provide ongoing assessment.
- Performing other duties as assigned.
Minimum Requirements
- Diploma in Practical Nursing.
- Current registration as a Licensed Practical Nurse with the College of Nurses BC.
- Successful annual completion of RAI MDS certification as per Ministry of Health requirements for AIS.
- Current First Aid with CPR certification.
- Successful completion of the prescribed Vulnerable Sector Check (Ontario applicants).
- Successful completion of the prescribed Criminal Records Check (British Columbia applicants).

Wage Leveling rate of pay: $32.84 - $41.35 per hour until wage leveling ends, then the pay rate will reflect the collective agreement pay rates starting rate.
