Job description

We are seeking a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) Orthopaedic Technician with comprehensive assessment and critical thinking skills to join our team at Penticton Regional Hospital in Penticton, BC.

About The Job

  • Performs assessments and plans, implements, and provides personal and nursing care to patients in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team. The scope of skills varies according to the predictability of the outcome for a given client population.
  • Under the direction and supervision of a physician or nurse practitioner (NP), provides orthopaedic care by assessing patient condition, reviewing x-rays to confirm the plan of care, applying casts and splints, removing externally exposed pins, wires, staples, and sutures, setting up traction equipment, and performing related orthopaedic duties.
  • Operates in accordance with the competency guidelines and full scope of practice within the Standards of Practice as outlined by the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM), and according to organizational policies, procedures, standards, and unit-specific protocols.

This is a casual opportunity. Casual means hours are not guaranteed and may vary, with shifts at short notice. Casual employees are eligible to apply for internal postings, including permanent and temporary positions. Many opportunities with Interior Health begin with casual employment and can lead to regular employment.

Shifts will be Monday through Friday, from 08:00 to 16:00 hours.

Penticton Regional Hospital (PRH) serves as a referral centre for three community hospitals and one diagnostic centre in the South Okanagan, with a regional population of 85,000. It has 158 acute beds and 102 extended care beds. A full range of services are provided, excluding open heart surgery, neuro surgery, and recent spinal cord injury care. This setting offers a variety of medical and surgical nursing units to build and expand your skills.
