Job description

Your Opportunity:

As a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), you are part of an interprofessional health care team utilizing nursing processes, critical thinking, problem solving and decision making skills. You will be guided by your education, experience, demonstrated skill level and AHS policies and procedures. You will play a key role in providing safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS.

The GPRH Obstetrics Department consists of a single-room maternity care model with 22 rooms: 18 Labour, Delivery and Recovery rooms; 4 private antepartum/postpartum rooms; and a 5-bed assessment/OB triage area. The unit has its own OR and Recovery room area embedded in the unit. We care for patients who are low to high risk during the antepartum, intrapartum, and postpartum periods, including patients requiring C-sections. The 5-bed assessment/OB triage area provides outpatient care and assessment of pregnant women from 20 weeks gestation to delivery. When the unit census allows, care is also provided for off-service patients. We value high-quality, effective, efficient, evidence-based, patient-centered care for all our pregnant, labouring, postpartum, newborn, and perinatal loss patients. Our goal is to empower patients and families through education and support during pregnancy and childbirth, while encouraging staff to learn and grow. Joining the GPRH Obstetrical team offers opportunities to develop nursing, interpersonal, coaching, teaching, multitasking, and assessment skills through caring for patients with rapidly changing conditions during the antepartum, intrapartum, and postpartum phases.
