As a Licensed Practical Nurse, you will provide professional nursing care to residents, including medication administration, and will mentor and coach unregulated staff.

Responsibilities

  • Develop care plans in collaboration with the Director of Care or designate, addressing the physical, psychological, and social needs of residents.
  • Guide and assist care aides in implementing procedures to ensure high standards of resident care.
  • Administer, monitor, and document medication administration; educate residents as needed.
  • Assist in creating and managing nursing care plans and evaluate current and future medical needs.
  • Assess the effectiveness of nursing treatments and communicate significant changes to the appropriate healthcare professionals.
  • Provide personal care, perform nursing procedures, and mentor Health Care Aides.
  • Work closely with residents to meet their care requirements and communicate concerns to physicians and managers.
  • Maintain competence through ongoing knowledge, skills, and evidence-based practice in caring for aging adults.
  • Ensure compliance with provincial health service standards, legislation, and safety regulations.
  • Promote accident and injury prevention through safe work practices.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Completion of a Nursing diploma.
  • Registration with the provincial nursing regulatory body and in good standing.
  • Experience in a residential care setting is preferred.
  • Knowledge of infection control procedures.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with residents, visitors, and colleagues.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to handle multiple requests.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to prioritize and solve problems efficiently.
  • Flexibility to work various shifts.
  • Physical ability to stand for extended periods, bend, squat, kneel, and lift up to 25 pounds.
  • Compassion, professionalism, and proficiency in assisting residents.

  • Do you hold an active unrestricted BCCN&M License, CLPNA, and/or CRNA License? * Yes / No

  • Do you have two or more years of full-time Canadian nursing experience? * Yes / No (Must have 2800 hours of nursing experience, generally equivalent to 2 years full-time or 4 years part-time)
  • Have you completed all current provincial vaccinations, including Tuberculosis, Influenza, and others? * Yes / No
  • Do you possess a valid CPR and First Aid certification? * Yes / No
