Candidates are invited to apply for the position at Extendicare Michener Hill, a continuing care facility in Red Deer, Alberta. The facility offers 220 Continuing Care beds and 60 Designated Assisted Living Beds.

Reporting to: Director of Care

Responsibilities
  • Ensure resident care is provided within established nursing standards, physicians’ orders, and administrative policies.
  • Utilize the Nursing Process of Assessment, Planning, Implementation, and Evaluation to develop individualized resident care plans.
  • Plan, direct, supervise, and evaluate the work of the Health Care Aide.
  • Assist in orienting, mentoring, and developing staff competencies.
  • Demonstrate leadership skills.
Qualifications
  • Graduate of Licensed Practical Nurse Program.
  • Registered in good standing with CLPNA.
  • Caring, compassionate, dependable, ethical, and mature.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Ability to manage stressful situations.
  • Critical thinking skills.
  • Good time management skills for a fast-paced environment.
  • Able to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Current CPR and First Aid certification.
  • Experience with MDS-RAI assessments.
