The Licensed Practical Nurse (OR/Procedures) provides practical nursing services in an operating or procedure room environment as a member of an integrated surgical/interventional team performing varied and complex surgical or image-guided interventions. The role involves consulting, conferring, and collaborating with other team members to facilitate safe and effective procedures through circulating duties and scrubbing, in accordance with standards and protocols. Responsibilities include pre-procedural, procedural, and post-procedural activities such as assessing, planning, implementing, evaluating, documenting client care, and providing support to clients and families.

What you'll do
  1. Assess, plan, implement, evaluate, and document patient care during all phases of the procedure.
  2. Perform scrub and circulating duties collaboratively with the peri-operative/interventional team.
  3. Assist the RN in coordinating care within the OR/Procedure Suite.
  4. Alert the RN to any issues or changes in patient condition during procedures.
  5. Document observations and care activities accurately in patient records.
  6. Participate in staff meetings and quality improvement activities.
  7. Assist with orientation of new staff by demonstrating procedures.
What you bring
  • Current full practicing licensure with the British Columbia College of Nurses & Midwives (BCCNM).
  • Graduation from a recognized Practical Nurse program with current competencies.
  • Preferred: Graduation from an accredited OR program for LPNs, with at least one year recent related experience in acute care.
  • CPR Level I (Basic Cardiac Life Support).
  • Knowledge of systemic racism and Indigenous health contexts, with a commitment to anti-racism and cultural safety.
  • Understanding of legislative obligations and commitments related to Indigenous Peoples and health equity.

  • Understanding of Indigenous-specific racism and systemic barriers, with demonstrated leadership in fostering an inclusive environment.
  • Knowledge of social determinants of health and legislative commitments to Indigenous rights.

Wage: $32.84 to $44.96 per hour
