Qualifications

Job description

Position Summary

Do you have a passion for nursing? We have the position for you! We are seeking a motivated Licensed Practical Nurse with a dedication to delivering compassionate patient care to join our team at Stuart Lake Hospital.

In accordance with the mission, vision, values, and strategic priorities of Northern Health, the person promotes a safe, respectful, and civil working environment for patients, residents, families, visitors, and staff. Reporting to the Program Lead or Designate and working with the interdisciplinary team, the Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) is responsible for providing nursing care to an assigned group of patients/residents according to policies, procedures, and the Standards of Practice for British Columbia LPNs. The LPN functions as an independent practitioner but collaborates with RNs/RPNs when patient acuity increases or care falls outside the LPN scope.

The LPN assists patients/residents in meeting their physical, social, spiritual, and psychological needs, participates in developing care plans, assessments, interventions, documentation, and acts as an advocate. The role includes participating in care conferences, assisting with orientation of new staff and students, responding to incidents, and performing clerical duties as needed.

Shift Rotation/Hours of work: Days, Nights - 07:00 to 19:00, 19:00 to 07:00, Rotating

Nats'oojeh Hospital and Health Centre

This state-of-the-art facility includes 27 beds, with 18 long-term care and 9 acute-care beds, an expanded emergency department, larger laboratory and diagnostic imaging spaces, and a design reflecting local Indigenous culture. It provides culturally safe care for residents of Fort St. James and surrounding areas.

The hospital offers services such as Emergency Care, Acute Care, Complex Care, Laboratory, X-ray, and Primary Care.

Fort St. James is located on Stuart Lake's southeast shore. The town, a restored national historic site with a population of approximately 4,500, has industries in forestry, mining, and tourism. It is a scenic gateway to a 300 km network of lakes and rivers, with affordable housing, good amenities, and educational facilities. Qualifications
