Job summary

Interior Health is seeking an experienced Licensed Practical Nurse to join the Long-term Care team at Bastion Place in Salmon Arm, BC. The role involves delivering person-centered nursing care and collaborating with a multidisciplinary team in a dynamic, fast-paced setting.

The position is a relief part-time role (0.73 FTE) with rotating day and night shifts from 07:00 to 15:00 and 23:00 to 07:00, until July 6, 2027 or return of the incumbent.

Qualifications

• Graduation from a recognized program for Practical Nurses or equivalent.
• Current full practicing licensure with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM).
• Current CPR certification.

Responsibilities

• Performs assessments and plans, implements and provides personal and nursing care in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team.
• Administers oral, subcutaneous and intramuscular medications following policies and procedures.
• Operates per the Standards of Practice and unit-specific protocols.

About the Job

Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN):

• Performs assessments and plans, implements and provides personal and nursing care to patients in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team; the scope or extent of the skills that the LPN performs varies according to the predictability of the outcome for a given client population
• Administers oral, subcutaneous and intramuscular medications in accordance with pharmaceutical and organizational policies and procedures
• Operates in accordance with the competency guidelines and full scope of practice within the Standards of Practice as outlined by the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM), and according to organizational policies, procedures, standards and unit specific protocols

This is a Relief Part Time (0.73) opportunity until July 6, 2027, or the return of the incumbent.

Shifts of work will be scheduled days and nights rotating from 07:00 to 15:00, 23:00 to 07:00 hours.

Bastion Place is a multi-level care facility built in 1991 and currently has a total of 80 beds: 60 are private rooms, two 2 bed wards and three 4 bed wards. Included are 3 palliative care beds, 7 convalescent care beds, 3 booked respite beds.
