Overview

As part of an interdisciplinary team, the LPN will provide comprehensive assessments of clients with mental health and addiction issues, manage treatments, guide, and prescribe medications in accordance with standards. The role requires working all shifts, including days, nights, and weekends, on a rotating schedule (7:00 am - 7:00 pm, 2 on, 2 off, 3 on, 2 off, 2 on, 3 off, every other weekend).

Job Responsibilities
  • Deliver client care according to the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta Standards of Nursing Practice.
  • Provide ongoing client care using the nursing process: assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation.
  • Formulate and implement care plans.
  • Safely implement physician’s orders.
  • Administer medications.
  • Maintain current progress records ethically and legally.
  • Orient, facilitate, and reinforce clients’ involvement in addiction treatment.
  • Initiate actions during medical emergencies.
  • Offer supportive counseling to clients and families.
  • Maintain a therapeutic environment conducive to learning and recovery.
  • Provide health education related to health maintenance and lifestyle.
  • Coordinate appointments and referrals.
  • Participate in team assessments, planning, and evaluation.
  • Assist with crisis intervention and addiction information.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Nursing Supervisor.
Qualifications
  • Graduate of an accredited LPN program with pharmacological training.
  • Licensed Practical Nurse registered in Alberta.
  • Current CPR certification.
  • Recent clinical experience, including medication administration and leadership duties.
  • Reliable attendance.
  • Leadership or charge experience preferred.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
  • Good problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to perform heavy lifting and use proper body mechanics.
  • Experience with team-based, person-centered care.
  • Ability to work effectively within an interdisciplinary team.
