JOB PURPOSE:

Reporting to the Clinic Manager, the Licensed Practical Nurse is responsible for providing exceptional customer service to our patients and physicians and executing on the organization’s strategic objectives related to clinic operations and patient care.

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Greeting and registering patients
  • Initiating forms, creating billings, and collecting payment for uninsured services
  • Escorting patients to exam rooms and preparing patients for physicians
  • Setting up and assisting with minor surgical procedures, pelvic examinations/IUDs
  • Performing diagnostic testing as ordered by the physician, including urinalysis, blood glucose testing, pregnancy testing
  • Performing a variety of care interventions and medical procedures within the scope of practice permitted by the physician
  • Being aware of the organization’s core purpose and values, and performing in accordance with them
  • Accurately charting all medical procedures or interventions in the patient chart
  • Following standards of cleanliness and safety
  • Scheduling and notifying patients of appointments
  • Scanning patient documents as required
  • Handling mail, faxes, and distributing documents appropriately
  • Completing daily, weekly, and monthly chores
  • Participating in training and orientation of new medical staff and students
  • Understanding physician profiles and supporting physicians’ requests
  • Participating actively in company initiatives
  • Performing other duties as assigned

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Two-year diploma from an accredited institution
  • Current registration and good standing with the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Alberta
  • Minimum one-year customer service experience
  • Experience with Med Access software preferred
  • Excellent communication, listening, and problem-solving skills
  • Strong clinical, customer service, and organizational skills
  • Ability to handle confidential information per the Health Information Act
  • Proficient computer skills including Excel
  • CPR certification and immunizations
