Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) - Family Care Clinic (Part-Time Contract)

Status: Part-Time (0.6 FTE), Contract ending March 31, 2026.

Schedule: Standard business hours, occasional evening work may be required.

Location: Primary Care Network Wellness Centre at #4000, 1800 194 Avenue SE; Calgary, AB.

Reports to: Program Manager, Clinical Operations.

Position Summary

The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) utilizes the nursing process in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team to deliver consistent, quality care to patients with various health concerns. The LPN supports primary care physicians in assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of care to promote, maintain, or restore health, and prevent illness or injury.

What Does the Role Do?
Physician Support
  • Assist physicians and team members with patient care, including assessment, management, and support.
  • Facilitate clinic workflow by rooming patients, taking vital signs, and assisting with procedures as needed.
  • Assist with patient follow-up by scheduling tests, appointments, and processing referrals.
  • Communicate essential information to physicians promptly to support seamless care.
Patient Care
  • Provide assessment, treatment, and patient education aligned with CLPNA Standards of Practice.
  • Perform restricted activities per CLPNA Standards.
  • Offer patients information on health issues, medical care, screening, and lifestyle options.
Documentation and Evaluation
  • Maintain patient histories and medical info in electronic records.
  • Document assessments and care plans.
  • Evaluate effectiveness of care through patient assessments.
  • Collaborate with team to develop approaches addressing patient needs.
General Duties
  • Mentor and orient new staff.
  • Participate in meetings, program development, and quality improvement.
  • Implement new protocols and serve as a resource.
  • Supervise practicum students.
  • Monitor equipment and supplies, and manage pharmaceutical requests.
  • Perform additional duties as required.
Who Should Apply?
  • Completion of an accredited LPN program.
  • Current unrestricted registration with CLPNA (or eligible).
  • Current CPR certification.
  • Current professional liability insurance.
  • 3-5 years clinical experience preferred.
  • Experience in acute, outpatient, or community settings with chronic disease patients.
  • Experience with Electronic Medical Records (e.g., CHR).

  • Standard clinic environment with moderate exposure risks.
  • Occasional evening work.
  • Two supervisory references required.
  • Criminal and vulnerable sector background check required.
