Job description

Position Summary

Do you have a passion for nursing? We have the position for you! We are seeking a motivated Licensed Practical Nurse with a dedication for delivering compassionate patient care to join our team at The Pines.

Within the context of a client and family centered model of care and, in accordance with the Mission, Vision and Values, and strategic directions of Northern Health, the person promotes a safe, respectful, and civil working environment for patients, residents, families, visitors and staff.

Reporting to the Manager or designate, in alignment with the creation of a vibrant community and working in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team, the LPN Coordinator is responsible for providing first line supervision to LPN nursing staff and unregulated care staff and providing nursing care to an assigned group of residents/patients/clients according to established policies and procedures and the Standards of Practice for the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM). The LPN Coordinator coordinates the work of the LPN and unregulated care staff on the unit(s), including making and adjusting work assignments, providing work direction, scheduling staff, monitoring and following up on staff work to ensure care outcomes are achieved, and ongoing evaluation of staff work.

Shift Rotation/Hours of work:

Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, 06:45 to 13:30

The Pines

The Pines is a one-level facility with two main resident wings centered around common activity, lounge and dining areas. It provides Recreational Therapy Services daily, pastoral and spiritual services by local clergy, and has a Volunteer Program to assist residents socially and with feeding. On-site services include hairdressing and barber services for a fee. Additionally, it offers an on-site integrated community adult day program, operating three days per week.

Burns Lake

Located in the Lakes District, Burns Lake boasts over 4800 km of lake shoreline, a diverse population of 2,000 residents, and serves a surrounding area of approximately 13,000 residents. The community features two First Nations communities, affordable housing, multiple schools, a college, and is well-connected via VIA Rail. It offers beautiful scenery and various summer and winter activities, making it a family-friendly community.

Qualifications
  • Graduation from an approved Practical Nursing program
  • Two (2) years' recent clinical and/or supervisory experience in a community health setting or equivalent
  • Current practicing registration with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM)
  • Valid BC Driver's License and access to a personal vehicle
