Position Summary
Do you have a passion for nursing? We have the position for you! We are seeking a motivated Licensed Practical Nurse with a dedication for delivering compassionate patient care to join our team at Parkwood Place.

In accordance with the established vision and values of the organization, the Community Licensed Practical Nurse, in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team, performs assessments, plans, implements and provides personal and nursing care to clients. Administers oral, subcutaneous and intramuscular medications in accordance with pharmaceutical and organizational policies and procedures. The scope or extent of the skills that the LPN performs varies according to the predictability of the outcome for a given client population. The LPN operates in accordance with the competency guidelines and full scope of practice within the Standards of Practice as outlined by the BC College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM), and according to organizational policies, procedures, standards and unit specific protocols.

Shift Rotation/Hours of work: Days, Evenings, 07:00 to 15:00, 14:00 to 22:00 (rotating)

Qualifications
  1. Registration with BC College of Nurses and Midwives as a practicing LPN registrant.
  2. One (1) year of recent, related experience; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
  3. Current valid BC Driver’s License.
  4. Use of personal vehicle.

Skills and Abilities:
  1. Demonstrated knowledge and skills within a specific clinical specialty or patient population dependent on the nature of the caseload (e.g. acute care, gerontology, palliative, etc.).
  2. Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
  3. Ability to establish and maintain rapport with clients.
  4. Ability to work independently and collaboratively with others.
  5. Ability to observe and recognize changes in clients.
  6. Ability to plan, organize and prioritize; and ability to implement a plan of care.
  7. Ability to operate related equipment including proficiency in relevant computer applications.
  8. Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.
