The Opportunity

As a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), you will serve as a Community Team leader, overseeing medication administration, wound care, and resident assessments. Using a wellness model of care and service philosophies, your goal is to enhance residents' lives by involving them in their care and maintaining their independence as much as possible.

About The Role

As an LPN at our Marrion Village Oak Bay Campus, you will adopt a person-centred approach to care, contributing to care planning and evaluating service delivery. You will adhere to the standards of practice and ethics outlined by the BCCNM, performing a range of nursing interventions from assessments to medication administration. Collaboration with RNs for complex cases, implementing wellness programs, and maintaining detailed resident records using systems like Point-Click Care and EMAR are key aspects of your role. You will also act as an ambassador of Baptist Housing, exemplifying our values and demonstrating servant leadership by prioritizing others' needs and fostering positive relationships with residents, families, and team members.

Requirements
  • Graduation from a recognized post-secondary LPN program
  • Current Emergency First Aid Certification
  • Current registration in good standing with the BCCNM
  • At least three years of LPN experience caring for seniors or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience

You are a compassionate and empathetic LPN who connects with residents on a personal level. Your excellent communication skills help you convey instructions clearly and stay calm in challenging situations. Resilient and adaptable, you can modify care strategies as needed. You understand the aging process, cognitive changes, and age-related diseases, tailoring your care accordingly. Your knowledge of medication protocols, infection control, outbreak management, and pain management is comprehensive. Respected by colleagues for your collaborative spirit, you bring humor and warmth to the care environment, creating a welcoming atmosphere for all.

Compensation & Benefits

LPNS are paid hourly, ranging from $32.84 to $41.35, according to the BCGEU collective agreement.
