Job summary

EHN Canada seeks a Licensed Practical Nurse for Willowview Recovery Centre, a 60-bed inpatient addiction treatment facility near Regina. You will assess and manage treatment plans, administer medications, and support an interdisciplinary team across day, night and weekend shifts.

You will provide nursing care following Saskatchewan College guidelines, document progress, and contribute to a therapeutic learning environment while promoting holistic patient health and relapse prevention.

Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited school of Licensed Practical Nurses with pharmacological training.
  • Licensed Practical Nurse registered in the Province of Saskatchewan.
  • Current basic CPR.
  • Recent clinical experience including medication administration and leadership duties.
  • Demonstrated ability to attend work regularly.
  • Leadership/Charge experience preferred.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal and organizational skills.
  • Good problem solving and decision-making skills.
  • Knowledge of a team-based person-centered care approach.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver client care according to the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Saskatchewan.
  • Provide ongoing client care utilizing the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation.
  • Formulate and implement client care plans.
  • Safely implement physician’s orders.
  • Administer medications to clients.
  • Maintain current progress records according to legal and ethical standards.
  • Orientate, facilitate and reinforce client’s involvement in addiction treatment.
  • Coordinate individual client appointments and referrals.
  • Actively participate with team members in assessment, planning and evaluation of the client and care.
  • Assist the public with crisis intervention and information on addiction.

Overview

EHN Willowview Recovery Centre is a new 60-bed inpatient addictions treatment facility, located about 20 minutes northwest of Regina and will provide adults 18 and older with holistic, wrap-around inpatient addictions treatment for up to 16 weeks.

As part of an interdisciplinary team the LPN will provide a comprehensive assessment of clients with mental health and addictions related issues and provide treatment management, guidance and prescribe medications in accordance with the statutory and regulatory standards. You will be required to work all shifts, which includes days, nights and weekends.

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Delivering client care according to the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Saskatchewan
  • Providing ongoing client care utilizing the nursing process of assessment, planning implementation and evaluation.
  • Formulating and implementing client care plans.
  • Safely implementing physician’s orders.
  • Administering medications to clients.
  • Maintaining current progress records on clients according to legal and ethical standards.
  • Orientating, facilitating and reinforcing client’s involvement in addiction treatment.
  • Decide and initiate on course of action in case of medical emergencies
  • Providing supportive counselling to clients, families and/or significant others on typical recovery issues.
  • Maintain a therapeutic environment on the unit conducive to the client learning productive patterns of living.
  • Providing ongoing health teaching to clients in relation to common health problems and the clients maintaining a healthy lifestyle.
  • Co-ordinate individual client appointments and referrals.
  • Actively participate with team members in the assessment, planning and evaluation of the client and his care.
  • Assisting the public with crisis intervention and information on addiction.
  • Perform other duties as outlined on shift duty lists and as assigned by the Nursing Supervisor.
  • Other duties as assigned.
