Job summary

Edgewood Health Network, Inc. is seeking a Registered Nurse or Licensed Practical Nurse to join our detox and addictions residential program in Nova Scotia.

You will provide nursing care, administer medications, and support the nursing team and physicians with compassionate, evidence-based care. As part of an interdisciplinary team, you will help implement recovery strategies, assist with client needs, and document progress.

Qualifications

• RN/LPN licensing required and nursing experience in addiction treatment preferred.
• Experience administering medications per organizational policy.
• Ability to document and monitor client progress and respond to needs.

Responsibilities

• Assists in establishing and maintaining procedures to ensure proper residential treatment.
• Follow procedures and document oversight of residential services.
• Administers medications and documents procedures accurately.
• Provides on-call nursing coverage as necessary.
• Schedules, coordinates and documents physician appointments.
• Facilitates communication with physicians regarding medical services.
• Conducts urinalysis collection when indicated.
• Monitors and documents client progress using implemented tools.
• Prepares and submits reports as deemed necessary.
• Participates in quality assurance and program improvement.

The Registered Nurse or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) is a member of an interdisciplinary team that provides medical care, recovery therapies and programs, and everyday care and support to clients in Detox and addictions residential treatment. The RN/LPN provides nursing care to clients, administers medications in accordance with organizational and pharmaceutical policies and procedures, and provides support to the Nursing Team and Physician as directed. The RN/LPN supports its clients in recovery in a myriad of practical and therapeutic ways including: supporting recovery strategies, assisting with client needs, listening empathetically, and more.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

• Assists in establishing and maintaining procedures and policies to ensure proper residential treatment.
• Follow established procedures and document proper oversight of residential treatment services.
• Administers medications and properly documents procedures
• Provides on call nursing coverage as necessary
• Schedules, coordinates and documents physician appointments
• Facilitates communication with the physician regarding medical services
• Conducts urinalysis collection with clients as deemed necessary.
• Monitors and documents progress of clients using the implemented communication tools
• Prepares and submits reports as deemed necessary.
• Participates in any quality assurance program and seeks to continuously improve the program within fiscal and departmental parameters
