Job Description: Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN)

Salary Range: $32.84 To $44.96 Hourly

Benefits: We are pleased to offer a $5000 signing bonus and up to $3300 in relocation assistance for this full-time permanent role at this community. Conditions apply – only available for new hires or returning employees who have not worked at any Retirement Concepts communities in the past 6 months.

Note: This position is covered under the HEABC wage levelling. The wage is currently being adjusted and topped up by the government; the displayed wage reflects this initiative.

About the Role

The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) reports to the Director of Care or designate. This role models leadership within the community, coordinating care delivery and performing duties within their scope of practice, standards, regulations, policies, and procedures to ensure resident-centered care.

Responsibilities
  1. Develop and maintain professional relationships to support organizational culture.
  2. Assess residents’ needs and implement individualized care plans.
  3. Ensure residents’ rights are observed and promote holistic wellness.
  4. Liaise with physicians, families, and other stakeholders to deliver quality care.
  5. Assess and treat wounds, prevent skin breakdown, and consult with RNs as needed.
  6. Administer medications and treatments within scope and regulations.
  7. Monitor and report changes in residents’ conditions, document and communicate accordingly.
  8. Participate in interdisciplinary care conferences and care plan reviews.
  9. Support administrative tasks like admissions and discharges, maintaining confidentiality.
  10. Assist in orientation, community programs, meetings, and educational sessions.
  11. Provide coaching to care staff and ensure proper documentation.
  12. Stay updated on community policies, emergency procedures, and safe work practices.
  13. Perform other duties as required.
Qualifications and Skills
  • Graduate of an approved Practical Nursing program with a current BC license.
  • Valid Occupational First Aid Level 1 certification.
  • Successful completion of annual RAI competency testing.
  • Experience in long-term care preferred.
  • Pass a vulnerable sector Criminal Record Check.
  • Proficient in English, both written and spoken, with good comprehension of instructions.
  • Computer skills including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Physical ability to lift up to 25 lbs and work with cleaning supplies and equipment.
