Qualifications

Job Status/ Classification: Full-Time/Non-Exempt

Position Reports to: Health Center Manager

Summary: Planned Parenthood of Metropolitan New Jersey, Inc. seeks Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs) . The LPN is under the general supervision and direction of the Health Center Manager, the LPN provides quality patient care in accordance with delegated responsibilities and agency policies and functions in a professional manner to ensure that agency medical standards are met.


Qualification & Experience
  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing for LPN and holds a LPN License in the State of New Jersey.
  • 1-2 years of experience in women’s health care, obstetrics, public health or related area preferred.
  • Applicant must be customer service focused and committed to the mission of the organization
  • Must be able to utilize sound judgment in assessing patient needs.
  • Possesses a philosophic commitment to the social and health benefits realized by voluntary access to family planning and related services.
Essential Functions/Responsibilities
  • Assists the Clinician and reinforces medical recommendations and instructions.
  • Takes medical and social histories and vital signs.
  • Reinforces information about birth control methods, STD’s, and other information as appropriate.
  • Give explanations to patients regarding laboratory and diagnostic procedures and assists with laboratory tests.
  • Dispenses supplies, administers medications and answers telephone inquiries.
  • Maintains appropriate patient records.
  • Ascertain charges and keeps accurate account of finances.
  • Make arrangements for appropriate medical and social referrals as directed.
  • Informs the RN of any medical and/or social follow-ups necessary. As assigned, does patient follow-up and keeps appropriate records.
  • Participates in quality assurance activities and meets established QA deadlines.
  • Insures compliance with the organization's “Privacy Guidelines” and HIPAA compliance program.
  • Assumes additional responsibilities and performs other duties as may be delegated by the Center Manager.
  • Attends Center Staff meetings and other meetings as deemed appropriate by the Center Manager.
