Job Description

In accordance with the Vision, Purpose, and Values, and strategic direction of the Vancouver Island Health Authority (Island Health), patient and staff safety is a priority and a shared responsibility. Continuous quality and safety improvements are integral to this role.

Under the supervision of the Manager or designate and in collaboration with a multidisciplinary team, the Licensed Practical Nurse provides care to complex but stable residents/clients. Responsibilities include assessments, planning, personal care, and performing nursing procedures. The LPN operates within the scope of practice defined by the BC College of Nurses and Midwives, agency policies, and unit protocols.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education, Training And Experience

• Registration with BC College of Nurses and Midwives as a practicing LPN.
• MHSU positions require additional education as outlined by BCCNM for practice involving Mental Health and/or Substance Use disorders.

Skills And Abilities

• Effective verbal and written communication with residents, families, team members, and the public.
• Ability to organize work and implement care plans.
• Knowledge and competencies for full scope of practice, including medication administration.
