Job summary

Providence Health Care is seeking a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to provide compassionate, person-centred care within an interdisciplinary team. You will assess, plan, implement, and evaluate resident care, advocate for individual needs, and support overall health and wellbeing.

Responsibilities

• Delivers safe, compassionate nursing care per LPN standards and care plans.
• Perform comprehensive patient assessments, monitor condition changes, and communicate concerns.
• Administer medications (non-IV), monitor effects, and follow physician orders.
• Develop and document care plans, participate in care conferences and discharge planning.
• Mentor/teach new staff and students; participate in quality improvement initiatives.

Minimum Nurse-to-Patient Ratio

Minimum Nurse-to-Patient Ratios (mNPR) set the minimum number of nurses required to safely care for patients on a given unit. Developed in partnership with the Ministry of Health, the BC Nurses' Union (BCNU), and health organizations across British Columbia, mNPR provides a consistent and transparent approach to staffing that supports safe nursing practice and high-quality patient care. What You Bring

Education

• Graduation from a recognized program for Practical Nurses or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience. Registration with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives as a practicing LPN registrant. Current basic cardiac life support certification.

Skills and Abilities:

• Demonstrated knowledge and ability to perform Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) procedures appropriate for the area of service.

Your Day to Day:

• Deliversafe, compassionate, person-centred nursing carein accordance withLPN standards andindividualized care plans.
• Perform comprehensive patient/resident assessments, monitorchanges in condition, andcommunicate concerns to the careteam.
• Administer medications (excluding IV), monitor therapeutic effects, andcarry out physician orders accurately.
• Develop, implement, evaluate, and document nursing care plans andinterventions.
• Collaborate with physiciansand the interdisciplinary team to supportquality patient/resident care and dischargeplanning.
• Prepare and supportpatients/residents foradmissions, transfers, procedures,and discharges.
• Educate patients/residentsand families, promoteinformed decision-making, and advocate fortheir physical, emotional, cultural, andspiritual needs.
• Respond appropriately toemergencies, incidents,and safetyconcerns while followingestablished reporting procedures.
• Mentor and supportnew staff andstudents by sharingclinical knowledge andbestpractices.
• Participate in careconferences, team meetings, quality improvement initiatives, and maintain asafe, organized careenvironment.
