Job description

Under the supervision of the Manager or designate and collaborating within a multidisciplinary team, the Licensed Practical Nurse, Full Scope, conducts assessments, plans and provides personal care, and performs nursing procedures. The LPN operates within the full scope of practice as outlined by the BC College of Nurses and Midwives, adhering to agency policies, standards, and unit-specific protocols.

Qualifications: Education, Training, and Experience
  • Registration with BC College of Nurses and Midwives as a practicing LPN.
  • Perinatal positions require either (a) completion of a perinatal education program plus breastfeeding course, or (b) one year of recent (within the last 2 years) acute perinatal experience. Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification within the past 2 years is also required.
  • MHSU positions require additional education as specified by BCCNM for practice involving Mental Health and/or Substance Use disorders.
  • Hip and Knee Clinic positions require two years of recent, related surgical and preadmission clinic experience or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, with residents, families, co-workers, team members, and the public.
  • Ability to deal effectively with others.
  • Organizational skills to plan and implement care.
  • Knowledge and competencies to work at full scope of practice, including medication administration.
  • Ability to operate related equipment.
