Job summary

Island Health is seeking a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), Full Scope, to join their multidisciplinary team. Qualifications

• Registered LPN with the BC College of Nurses and Midwives.
• Recent perinatal experience or equivalent education is necessary for relevant positions.
• Experience in Mental Health and/or Substance Use may be required for some roles.

Job description

Under the direction of the Manager or designate and in collaboration as a member of a multidisciplinary team, the Licensed Practical Nurse, Full Scope, performs assessments, plans, provides personal care, and executes nursing procedures. The LPN operates within the full scope of practice outlined by the BC College of Nurses and Midwives, adhering to agency policies, standards, and unit-specific protocols.

Qualifications: Education, Training, and Experience

• Registration with BC College of Nurses and Midwives as a practicing LPN.
• Perinatal positions require either (a) completion of a perinatal education program plus breastfeeding course, or (b) one year of recent (within the last 2 years) acute perinatal experience. Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification within the past 2 years is also required for perinatal roles.
• MHSU positions require additional education as specified by BCCNM for practice involving Mental Health and/or Substance Use disorders.
• Hip and Knee Clinic positions require two years of recent, related surgical and preadmission clinic experience or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
