Job Description: Licensed Practical Nurse, Full Scope

Under the direction of the Manager or designate and in collaboration with a multidisciplinary team, the Licensed Practical Nurse, Full Scope, performs assessments, plans and provides personal care, and executes nursing procedures. The nurse operates within the full scope of practice as outlined by the BC College of Nurses and Midwives, adhering to competency guidelines, agency policies, standards, and unit-specific protocols.

Qualifications: Education, Training, and Experience

• Registration with BC College of Nurses and Midwives as a practicing LPN registrant.
• Perinatal positions also require (a) completion of a perinatal education program plus breastfeeding course; or (b) 1 year of recent (within the last 2 years) acute perinatal experience. Additionally, Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification within the past 2 years is required.
• MHSU positions require completion of additional education as outlined by BCCNM for practice involving Mental Health and/or Substance Use disorders.

Skills and Abilities

• Effective verbal and written communication with residents, families, co-workers, multidisciplinary team members, and the public.
• Ability to deal effectively with others.
• Organization of work and implementation of a care plan.
• Demonstrated knowledge and competencies to work at full scope of practice, including administering medications.
• Operation of related equipment.
• Physical ability to perform the duties of the position.
