Job description

Licensed Practical Nurse, Full Scope - (211531)

In accordance with the Vision, Purpose, and Values, and strategic direction of the Vancouver Island Health Authority (Island Health), patient and staff safety is a priority and a shared responsibility. Continuous quality and safety improvements are integral to this role.

Under the supervision of the Manager or a designate, and as part of a multidisciplinary team, the Licensed Practical Nurse, Full Scope, performs assessments, plans and provides personal care, and executes nursing procedures. The nurse operates within the full scope of practice outlined by the BC College of Nurses and Midwives, adhering to agency policies, standards, and unit-specific protocols.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Education, Training, and Experience

Registration with BC College of Nurses and Midwives as a practicing LPN.

  • Perinatal roles require either (a) completion of a perinatal education and breastfeeding course, or (b) at least 1 year of recent (within 2 years) acute perinatal experience. Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification within the past 2 years is also required for perinatal positions.
  • Positions related to Mental Health and Substance Use require additional education as specified by BCCNM.
