Job Description

The requirement to continuously improve quality and safety is inherent in all aspects of this position.

Under the direction of the Manager or designate and in collaboration as a member of a multidisciplinary team, the Licensed Practical Nurse, Full Scope, performs assessments, plans, and provides personal care, and performs nursing procedures. The Licensed Practical Nurse operates within the full scope of practice defined by the Standards of Practice outlined by the BC College of Nurses and Midwives, and according to agency policies, standards, and unit-specific protocols.

Qualifications: Education, Training, And Experience

• Registration with BC College of Nurses and Midwives as a practicing LPN registrant.
• Perinatal positions require either (a) completion of a perinatal education program plus breastfeeding course, or (b) one year of recent (within the last 2 years) acute perinatal experience. Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification within the past 2 years is also required for perinatal roles.
• MHSU positions require additional education as outlined by BCCNM for practice involving Mental Health and/or Substance Use disorders.
