Job Description

Under the supervision of the Manager or designate and collaborating as a member of a multidisciplinary team, the Licensed Practical Nurse, Full Scope, performs assessments, plans and provides personal care, and executes nursing procedures. The nurse operates within the full scope of practice as outlined by the BC College of Nurses and Midwives, adhering to competency guidelines, agency policies, standards, and unit-specific protocols.

Qualifications: Education, Training, and Experience

• Registration with BC College of Nurses and Midwives as a practicing LPN registrant.
• Perinatal positions require either (a) completion of a perinatal education program plus breastfeeding course, or (b) one year of recent (within the last 2 years) acute perinatal experience. Additionally, Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification within the past 2 years is required.
• MHSU positions require additional education as specified by BCCNM for practice involving Mental Health and/or Substance Use disorders as primary diagnoses.

• Effective verbal and written communication skills with residents, families, co-workers, multidisciplinary team members, and the public.
• Ability to deal effectively with others.
• Organizational skills to plan and implement care.
• Knowledge and competencies to work at full scope of practice, including medication administration.
• Ability to operate related equipment.
• Physical capability to perform the duties of the position.
