Under the supervision of the Manager or designate and as part of a multidisciplinary team, the Licensed Practical Nurse, Full Scope, performs assessments, plans and provides personal care, and executes nursing procedures. The role operates within the competency guidelines and full scope of practice outlined by the BC College of Nurses and Midwives, adhering to agency policies and unit-specific protocols.

Qualifications

• Registration with BC College of Nurses and Midwives as a practicing LPN.
• Perinatal positions require either (a) completion of a perinatal education and breastfeeding course or (b) one year of recent acute perinatal experience within the last 2 years. Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification within the past 2 years is also required.
• MHSU positions require additional education as specified by BCCNM for practice involving Mental Health and/or Substance Use disorders.

Skills and Abilities

• Effective verbal and written communication with residents, families, co-workers, multidisciplinary team members, and the public.
• Ability to organize work and implement care plans.
• Demonstrated knowledge and competencies to work at full scope, including medication administration.
• Operate related equipment and physically perform duties.
