About the Opportunity

Within own level of competence and scope of practice, the Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) independently provides nursing services to patients that are considered to be stable with predictable outcomes. For patients that are considered to be unstable, with unpredictable outcomes, the LPN functions under the direction of a Registered Nurse (RN), Medical Practitioner, or other health care professional authorized to provide consultation, guidance or direction. The LPN functions within the Collaborative Care Delivery Model and is accountable for the provision of holistic and comprehensive care to meet the needs of individuals, families, and groups. The LPN applies practical nursing theory in the assessment of patients and collaborates in the development, implementation, and ongoing evaluation and revision of the nursing care plan for the patient.

About You

We would love to hear from you if you have the following:

  • Graduate from an approved school of Practical Nursing
  • Registered or eligible for registration with the Nova Scotia College of Nurses (NSCN)
  • Completion of Physical Assessment and Pharmacology Courses recognized by NSCN
  • Current BLS-C Certification
  • Recent community acute care nursing within a home setting required
    • If no applicants demonstrate community experience, consideration may be given to candidates with a year or more of acute care nursing experience in a hospital setting
  • Knowledge and competency with vaccinations an asset
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and through written or electronic methods.
  • Demonstrated effective interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work in a self-directed environment and within an interdisciplinary team
  • Strong physical and psychosocial assessment skills
  • Excellent organizational and prioritizing skills
  • Demonstrated commitment to self-learning and continuous professional development
  • Must have valid driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle
  • Competencies in other languages an asset; French preferred

  • This position will support Cheticamp and Margaree Continuing Care Nursing offices
Compensation and Benefits

$31.74 - $35.81 hourly
$37.07 hourly with 25 years' nursing experience

Successful candidates may be eligible for our benefits package which includes health, dental, travel, long-term disability, and life insurance coverage as well as a defined benefit pension plan.
