Job summary

Lift Community Services of qathet Society is seeking a Casual Licensed Practical Nurse for the iOAT Clinic in Powell River. You will administer medications, monitor responses, and support harm-reduction practices within the LPN scope of BC regulations.

Worksite is New Roots Clinic; reports to the Community Health Services Manager. Expect a 9am–5pm schedule, with shifts as needed, and the ability to adapt to changing priorities in a fast-paced, client-centered environment.

Qualifications

• Licensed Practical Nursing qualification from a recognized institution.
• Current practicing registration with the BC College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM).
• Minimum 1 year of related nursing experience in community health, mental health, or substance use care preferred.
• CPR, First Aid, and Naloxone training required.
• Criminal Record and Vulnerable Sector Check clearance.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct nursing care at the iOAT Clinic by administering medications and monitoring responses.
• Collaborate with RNs, RPNs, physicians, and team members to deliver safe, trauma-informed care.
• Support harm reduction practices within the LPN scope of practice in BC.
• Contribute to participant health and wellness through accurate documentation and reporting.

Qualifications

• Licensed in Practical Nursing from a recognized institution.

• Knowledge and application of LPN scope of practice, including medication administration (e.g., OAT, iOAT, safe supply)
• Ability to monitor client health, conduct focused assessments, and respond to changes or emergencies
• Experience with harm reduction approaches, including education and naloxone support
• Proficiency in clinical documentation, medication administration records (MARs), and reporting
• Ability to perform basic nursing procedures (vital signs, wound care, testing, health teaching)
• Strong collaboration skills within an interdisciplinary healthcare team

• Ability to work in a fast-paced, client-centered environment with sound judgment and adaptability

Working Condition and Physical Requirements

• Required to occasionally lift and move items weighing up to 50 lbs.

List of Duties

• The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) provides direct nursing care to participants at the iOAT Clinic by administering medications, monitoring responses, and supporting harm reduction practices within the LPN scope of practice in British Columbia.
• The role contributes to participant health and wellness by collaborating with Registered Nurses, Registered Psychiatric Nurses, physicians, and other team members to deliver safe, trauma-informed, and culturally safe care.
