• Current full practicing licensure with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM).
• Current CPR certification is required.
• Acute care experience is considered an asset.

About the Job:
Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN):
• Performs assessments and plans, implements, and provides personal and nursing care to patients in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team. The scope of skills performed varies according to the predictability of the outcome for a given client population.
• Administers oral, subcutaneous, and intramuscular medications in accordance with pharmaceutical and organizational policies and procedures.
• Operates within the full scope of practice as outlined by the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM), following organizational policies, procedures, standards, and unit-specific protocols.

This is a casual opportunity. Casual means hours are not guaranteed and may vary, with shifts at short notice. Casual employees are eligible to apply for internal postings, including permanent and temporary positions. Many opportunities with Interior Health begin with casual employment and can lead to regular employment.

Shifts will include days and nights, scheduled rotating from 07:00 to 19:00 and 19:00 to 07:00 hours.

About this location/unit:
Kootenay Lake Hospital is a Level 1 Community Hospital offering surgical, inpatient, and emergency services. The medical unit is a busy medical floor in a small rural hospital in Nelson, funded for 27 beds with up to 3 overflow beds. RNs work 12-hour shifts, 24 hours/day. There is typically 1 RN and 1 LPN per team of 8-10 patients during the day shift, and 3 RNs and 1 LPN on night shift.
