Job description

Your Opportunity:

On 4A, you will work in a fast-paced, ever-changing orthopedic environment. Our unit functions as part of a team using the Collaborative Care model. There are opportunities for growth and experience working with our team. We are seeking a Licensed Practical Nurse who believes in patient and family-centered care and values a supportive, caring, and fun work environment. 4A is a 32-bed surgical unit specializing in the care of acute orthopedic patients.

Description:

As a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), you will be part of an interprofessional healthcare team, utilizing nursing processes, critical thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making skills. You will be guided by your education, experience, demonstrated skills, and AHS policies and procedures. Your role is vital in providing safe, quality, patient- and family-centered care aligned with AHS's shared vision and values.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Completion of an accredited practical nurse education program
  • Active or eligible registration with the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Alberta (CLPNA)
  • Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Healthcare Provider (BCLS-HCP)

Additional Qualifications:

  • Ability to perform all duties listed in the surgical LPN job description and hazard assessment, including working conditions
  • Physical ability for extended sitting and standing
  • Commitment to ongoing learning to maintain competencies
  • Effective team collaboration and workload organization skills
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Interpersonal skills, maturity, diplomacy, and tact

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 2-3 years of recent orthopedic or medical/surgical experience or recent preceptorship in a surgical unit preferred
