The Opportunity
Position Summary:
Reporting directly to the Client Service Manager, the Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) is a regulated member of the interprofessional health care team who completes comprehensive client assessments, develops and implements client plans/care that addresses both physical and psycho-social care needs. This position monitors on-going client care and condition to ensure optimum functioning and ensures changes in client status are reported to the Staff Nurse.
This position administers prescribed medications, supervises the delivery of medications by unregulated staff and collaborates with the interdisciplinary team. The LPN’s practice encompasses the application of nursing knowledge, skills and judgement to assess client needs and provide nursing care that is reflective of their level of education and knowledge. In keeping with the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Alberta’s (CLPNA)Professional Practice Standards & Code of Ethics, Carewest’s Frame of Reference, Philosophy of Care, and Carewest policies this position maintains professional and ethical standards at all times. The demonstration of leadership is critical for success in this position. Responsible for other related duties as required.
Program Summary:
Rehabilitation and Community Transition Program (RCTP) – a short-stay restorative care program that supports medically stable adults who do not need an acute-care level of service, but may require additional assessment, recuperation, and therapy before returning to the community.
Qualifications:
- Graduation from a recognized LPN program
- Current and active registration with CLPNA required
- Current and active Basic Life Support Provider CPR is required
Experience:
- Nursing experience is preferred
- Demonstrated leadership skills required
