Job description

It's an amazing time to join Golden Life as we continue to expand our seniors housing, care, and services within western Canada.

We’re looking for a qualified permanent, part-time (0.83 FTE)Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to join our Village Nursing Care team at Columbia Garden Village in Invermere, BC. If you're a qualified LPN, and you are a strong team player, then we’d like to hear from you!

The successful candidate will be registered with the BCCNM, and has a passion for providing high quality care and support for seniors.

Reporting to the Director of Care, the Licensed Practical Nurse provides leadership and direction to members of the program team. The LPN is responsible for day-to-day operations within the designated program area. In addition to carrying out various duties pertaining to resident care, the LPN develops/updates appropriate care plans and ensures standards of practice are met by the program team while providing care and services to residents.

Duties will include, but are not limited to:

  1. Fosters a warm, friendly and caring environment for residents and co-workers;
  2. Ensures comprehensive care plans, tailored to the resident’s short and long term requirements, are developed, updated and regularly evaluated for effectiveness;
  3. Participates in decision-making relating to matters of health and safety, resident care, and staffing;
  4. Provides direct nursing care, including administration of medications, medical treatments and procedures as per provincial regulations and established policies and procedures;
  5. Completes and ensures Resident’s clinical care assessments and plans are documented and accurate;
  6. Coordinates nursing team’s resident care assignments to ensure efficient and timely delivery of services to residents;
  7. Provides leadership and direction to staff involved in the provision of resident care by mentoring and role modeling, fostering and promoting new initiatives;

The successful candidate will meet the following qualifications:
  1. Current LPN registration with the BC College of Nurses and Midwives.
  2. Experience in Assisted Living or Long-Term Care an asset.
  3. Working knowledge of MDS/InterRAI.
  4. Level 1 OFA First Aid Certificate.
  5. Effective communication, interpersonal and problem-solving skills.
  6. Proven computer skills.
  7. A team-player.
  8. Physical capability to perform the duties of the position.
  9. Successful clearance of a Vulnerable Sector - Criminal Record Check.
  10. Can provide a negative TB Screening test, and complete Immunization Records as outlined in the BC Centre for Disease Control for Health Care workers.

Compensation:
The wage schedule of $32.84-$41.87 per hour for this position currently falls under provincial wage-levelling.
