Salary Range : $32.84 to $41.35

Job Summary

Under the direction of the Program Director and Clinical Coordinator, and as a member of a multi-disciplinary team, the LPN provides a broad range of nursing functions and direct care, including psychiatric and physical assessments, crisis interventions, medication administration, group facilitation, and other duties as required.

The LPN role aligns with the LPN scope of practice, with clinical direction provided by the RPN / RN on duty. The LPN is responsible for delivering trauma-informed care to individuals who may have experienced homelessness, severe addictions, mental illness, concurrent disorders, trauma, and disconnection from family, culture, and community. Clients may also be involved in criminal justice or forensic systems. The nurse collaborates with the team and other professionals regarding client progress, care planning, and interventions.

Required Qualifications

  • Graduation from a recognized LPN program and maintenance of full practicing license with BCCNM.
  • Ability to provide/obtain upon hire:

Valid B.C. Class 5 Driver's License

  • Valid First Aid Certificate (“Emergency First Aid – Community Care” or equivalent)
  • Criminal Records Clearance from the BC Ministry of Justice
  • Tuberculosis Clearance (within the past 6 months)
  • Immunization Records
  • WHMIS Certificate
  • Knowledge and Abilities

    • Understanding of issues faced by individuals with complex needs related to psychiatric disability, addiction, trauma, and victimization.
    • Experience working with clients with mental illness and addictions.
    • Knowledge of mental illness, addiction issues, psychotropic medications, and psychosocial rehabilitation principles/strengths-based models.
    • Ability to establish and maintain rapport with clients.
    • Ability to observe and recognize changes in clients.
    • Knowledge of trauma-informed care and ability to implement related techniques.
    • Knowledge of working with culturally diverse clients, including Aboriginal populations.
    • Understanding of housing issues and community resources in Metro Vancouver.
    • Effective organizational and communication skills, both verbal and written.
    • Physical ability to perform duties.
    • Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
    • Proficiency with related equipment (e.g., computers).
    • Ability to organize and prioritize tasks.

    Shift Rotation and Schedule: 7:00 am - 3:00 pm, 3:00 pm - 11:00 pm, 11:00 pm - 7:00 am, and 11:00 am - 7:00 pm.
