Qualifications

Job description

Licensed Mechanic (310S) or Apprentice – Automotive Maintenance

Location: Markham Head Office, ON

Schedule: Monday to Friday, 8:00 am - 4:00 pm (Flex-time and occasional overtime required)

Pay: CA$26.00/hr - CA$32.00/hr (based on experience)

Responsibilities:

  • Perform routine maintenance and repairs on a variety of vehicles, including light and medium-duty trucks, vans, specialty service vehicles, and equipment
  • Conduct regular inspections to identify and address mechanical issues as per Ministry of Transportation guidelines
  • Diagnose and resolve engine, transmission, brake, suspension, tire, and electrical system issues
  • Estimate time and material costs for fleet/vehicle repairs
  • Initiate service calls for emergency breakdowns as needed
  • Track, document, and maintain accurate records of maintenance and repair services performed
  • Coordinate with Fleet Manager to ensure timely servicing of all vehicles
  • Stay updated on advancements in vehicle technology and maintenance practices
  • Ensure compliance with Ontario health & safety standards, as well as company policies
  • Communicate with the Fleet Manager for approval of material purchases as needed
  • Conduct off-site service calls for fleet maintenance and repair
  • Perform physically demanding tasks including lifting up to 50 lbs, pushing, pulling, carrying, prolonged standing/walking, and tool/equipment usage
  • Additional duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Valid 310S license required or in-progress through existing apprenticeship
  • Certification as an Automotive Service Technician/Truck & Coach or equivalent considered an asset
  • Minimum 2+ years of experience in the heavy truck/equipment industry as a licensed mechanic
  • Proven experience with both gas and diesel engines
  • Strong diagnostic skills with the ability to troubleshoot and repair various automotive and technical systems
  • Knowledge of hydraulic systems considered an asset
  • Proficiency with hand/electric tools and equipment related to vehicle maintenance
  • Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks effectively
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Possess a valid Ontario G driver’s license with a clean driving record (Commercial driving license considered an asset)
  • Ability to commute to Markham, ON for work (no relocation fee provided)

Additional Information:

  • Interviews will be held in-person with the Fleet Manager
  • A clean driver’s abstract may be required
