Job description

Start Date :

Dependent on current government funding and licensing capacity. We are gathering applicants for our Provider waitlist and will contact qualified applicants when onboarding can begin, including scheduling an initial home visit based on your availability.

About the role :

At Compass ELC, you will work as a Home Child Care (HCC) Provider alongside passionate, caring, and dedicated educators. You will engage, connect, and learn with Children, Families, Community Partners, and other Providers. You are passionate about early learning, emergent curriculum, and lifelong learning. You are energetic, resourceful, and creative in creating learning opportunities, building connections, and engaging with children and families.

As a Licensed Home Child Care business, you can create your own program, set your schedule and hours (part/full day, evenings, weekends, overnight).

Capacity :

You may care for up to 6 children under 13 years old (no more than 3 under 24 months), including your own children under 4 (if your child is in kindergarten, they are no longer included in the ratio).

Responsibilities include :

1. Planning and leading play-based experiences based on children's interests.
2. Observing and documenting children’s learning.
3. Building relationships with families and involving them in the learning process.
4. Collaborating with Providers, Families, Community Partners, and Children.
5. Ensuring children's safety by respecting diverse needs and backgrounds and creating equitable opportunities.
6. Maintaining a safe and clean environment for equipment, furniture, and materials.
7. Engaging in ongoing professional development.

Qualifications :

• Suitable operational space for up to 6 children (including play, meals, sleep, outdoor areas).
• Experience with young children.
• Warmth, sincerity, and genuine interest in working with children.
• Rent or own your home/apartment (landlord approval needed).
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Behavior guidance skills, including problem solving, positive reinforcement, and redirection.
• Valid Standard First Aid / CPR Level C certificate.
• Updated immunization records or approved exemption documentation.
• Current Police Vulnerable Sector Check (issued within the last three months).
• Active Food Handler’s Certificate.
