Job summary

Sofina Foods Inc. is seeking a Licensed Electrician to join our Maintenance team in a fast-paced poultry processing facility. The role focuses on installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of electrical systems across the plant to maximize uptime and safety.

The successful candidate will read electrical drawings, comply with codes and standards, and work with Production and Maintenance to ensure reliable operations. Shift is afternoons, with overtime as needed.

Qualifications

  • Ontario 309A/442A or equivalent provincial certification.
  • Experience in industrial manufacturing or food-processing environment is a plus.
  • Experience troubleshooting industrial electrical systems, PLCs, VFDs, motors and control systems.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and technical documentation.
  • Strong understanding of electrical safety requirements and codes.
  • Strong troubleshooting, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work in wet, cold, and refrigeration environments and around industrial equipment.
  • Ability to safely perform physical requirements (standing, walking, climbing, bending, in confined/elevated spaces).

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot, repair, maintain and install electrical systems, machinery, production equipment, and controls.
  • Perform preventative and predictive maintenance on electrical equipment and systems.
  • Diagnose electrical faults and respond to equipment breakdowns in a timely manner.
  • Read and interpret electrical drawings, schematics, blueprints, and technical manuals.
  • Ensure all electrical work complies with applicable electrical codes, legislation, and company standards.
  • Install, test, and maintain motors, sensors, control panels, PLCs, VFDs, lighting and other electrical components.
  • Assist with equipment upgrades, modifications, and new installations.
  • Collaborate with Production and Maintenance teams to minimize downtime and keep production on schedule.
  • Follow all company policies related to H&S, food safety, sanitation, and animal welfare.

Shift: Afternoon shift

Hours: Monday to Thursdays 12:00pm - 8:30pm AND Fridays 8:00am - 4:30pm

Position Summary:

We are looking for a skilled and dependableLicensed Electrician to join our Maintenance team in a fast-paced poultry processing facility.

Reporting to the Maintenance Manager, the successful candidate will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of electrical systems, equipment, and controls throughout the plant. This position is essential to supporting safe and reliable production operations, minimizing equipment downtime, and ensuring production equipment operates efficiently.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Troubleshoot, repair, maintain and install electrical systems, machinery, production equipment, and controls.
  • Perform preventative and predictive maintenance on electrical equipment and systems.
  • Diagnose electrical faults and respond to equipment breakdowns in a timely manner.
  • Read and interpret electrical drawings, schematics, blueprints, and technical manuals.
  • Ensure all electrical work is completed in accordance with applicable electrical codes, legislation, and company standards.
  • Install, test, and maintain motors, sensors, control panels, PLC’s, VFD’s, lighting and other electrical components.
  • Assist with equipment upgrades, modifications, and new installations.
  • Collaborate with Production and Maintenance teams to minimize equipment downtime and maintenance production schedules.
  • Follow all company policies and procedures related to H&S, food safety, sanitation, and animal welfare.

Requirements:

  • Valid Ontario 309A Construction & Maintenance Electrician or 442A Industrial Electrician certificate of Qualification or equivalent provincial certification.
  • Previous experience in an industrial manufacturing or food-processing environment is considered and asset.
  • Experience troubleshooting industrial electrical systems, PLCs, VFDs, motors and control systems.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and technical documentation.
  • Strong understanding of electrical safety requirements and applicable codes.
  • Strong troubleshooting, problem-solving, and communication skills
  • Ability to work in wet, cold, and refrigeration processing areas and around industrial equipment.
  • Ability to safety perform the physical requirements of the position, including standing, walking, climbing, bending, and working in confined or elevated areas as required.

This is a full-time afternoon shift position Monday to Thursday with scheduled hours of 12:00pm to 8:30pm, or until the end of production AND Fridays from 8:00am - 4:30pm. The successful candidate must be flexible to work beyond scheduled hours when required to support production, respond to equipment breakdowns, or complete necessary maintenance activities.
