Job summary

Waste Connections of Canada is seeking a licensed 310T diesel mechanic in Ajax, Ontario for an afternoon shift from 2:00 PM to 11:30 PM. Join an integrated services company focused on safety, community impact, and employee growth.

You will perform repairs, diagnostics and inspections on diesel vehicles, utilize fleet maintenance software for documentation, and uphold all SAFETY standards. Competitive wages, shift premium, and a $15,000 sign-on bonus are offered to fully licensed mechanics.

Qualifications

• Licensed 310T mechanic.
• Proficient with diesel vehicle diagnostics, preventive maintenance and repairs.
• Basic tool set.
• Valid Class DZ or AZ license an asset.
• Hydraulic systems experience preferred.
• Ability to pass pre-employment requirements.

Responsibilities

• Perform repairs and inspections on diesel vehicles.
• Interpret failure modes using vehicle computer systems to service ECUs.
• Respond to road calls for emergency repairs.
• Review and complete driver Vehicle Inspection Reports.
• Complete required paperwork with fleet maintenance software.
• Test-drive trucks after service.
• Assist team members with repairs as needed.
• Adhere to SAFETY standards set by regulators and Waste Connections of Canada.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Responsibilities

Our priority is to make sure we hire mechanics that care about the safety of our drivers and the service provided to the community. As a mechanic with us the minimum responsibilities are:

Scheduled Monday to Friday Afternoon Shift from 2PM to 11:30PM

• Perform repairs and inspections, safety checks, diagnosis and repair of electrical, hydraulic, suspension, brake and air systems on diesel vehicles.
• Utilize vehicle computer electrical systems to interpret failure modes to identify and adjust Engine and Vehicle Control modules
• Respond to road calls for emergency repairs
• Reviewing, completing or assigning repairs identified on driver Vehicle Inspection Reports.
• Completing required paperwork utilizing fleet maintenance software programs.
• Test driving trucks after services and repairs
• Helping other team members with repairs as needed
• Having professional and courteous interactions with our drivers when needed.
• Adhere to all SAFETY standards laid out by the Ministry of Transport, Ministry of environment as well as Waste Connections of Canada.
• Perform other miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

What We Need From You

• Licensed 310T Mechanic
• Proficiency in a variety of diesel vehicle diagnostic tools, preventative maintenance and repair.
• Basic tool set
• Valid Class DZ Or AZ License an Asset
• Hydraulic experience is a plus
• Must be able to pass all pre-employment requirements
