Responsibilities

  • Perform routine maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs on school buses and other fleet vehicles.
  • Inspect and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems to identify issues.
  • Conduct safety inspections and ensure compliance with all Ministry of Transportation (MTO) regulations.
  • Perform preventative maintenance, including oil changes, brake inspections, and fluid checks.
  • Repair or replace defective parts, including engines, transmissions, brakes, and suspension systems.
  • Maintain accurate records of all maintenance and repair work performed.
  • Respond to emergency breakdowns and provide on-site repairs when necessary.
  • Collaborate with the dispatch and operations team to ensure vehicle availability.
  • Keep up to date with industry best practices and emerging technologies.
  • Adhere to workplace safety regulations and company policies at all times.

Qualifications

  • Valid 310T / 310S Truck and Coach Technician License (mandatory).
  • Previous experience as a mechanic, preferably in the school bus or transit industry.
  • Strong knowledge of heavy-duty vehicle diagnostics and repair.
  • Familiarity with MTO safety standards and regulations.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
