These positions are based at our Carnegie Branch, located inside the Carnegie Community Centre at 401 Main Street, Downtown Eastside.
Library Public Service Assistant IIs (LPSA II) staff the service desks, checking in and out items, assisting patrons with VPL’s website and apps, and answering questions in a friendly, welcoming manner. They provide basic reader’s advisory by referencing the collection and assist with the use of computers and printers.
LPSA IIs also provide guidance to clerical staff, especially in the absence of a supervisor, and are responsible for scheduling and tracking staff hours to ensure payroll accuracy.
We serve a community from all walks of life, offering friendly, respectful, and responsive service regardless of background or income. A genuine desire to help people is a key asset.
Additional duties include sorting and shelving resources, requiring physical activity such as lifting, reaching, bending, and standing for long periods. You will be part of a system circulating over 5 million items annually.
