This posting will be used to fill 1 casual position working up to 75 hours bi-weekly. It will establish a 12-month eligibility list which may be used to fill similar positions.

About Us
Reporting to the Supervisor of Community Outreach Services (COS), the position is based in the Whitehorse Public Library as a part of a collaboration between the Departments of Health and Social Services and Community Services.
Your impact
This position is a key initiative within the Downtown Whitehorse Safety Response Action Plan, designed to enhance the safety, health, and overall well-being of downtown Whitehorse. The incumbent provides client-centered, trauma informed on-site outreach support to individuals accessing the Whitehorse Public Library who may face challenges in navigating and accessing a broad range of social and community supports due to their complex needs.

Essential qualifications
Please submit your resume clearly demonstrating how you meet the qualifications below. Selections for further consideration will be based solely on the information you provide in your resume.
- Recent experience working directly with vulnerable individuals
- Recent experience directly providing trauma informed care based on best practices
- Knowledge and experience with Harm Reduction practices.
- Experience in crisis intervention, crisis prevention, and de-escalation
- Training and experience assessing individuals’ risks to self-harm, and/or others will be considered an asset.
Candidates who have education, training, and/or experience equivalent to the essential qualifications listed above may be equally considered.

Job Requirements
This job requires you to perform, and/or be exposed to, the following:
- The incumbent is frequently exposed to individuals who exhibit behavioural challenges including aggression, and must have the ability to immediately assess both the individuals’ and their own personal safety and risk, as well as de-escalate crises effectively
- The position requires the incumbent to work independently within the Whitehorse Public Library and around its perimeter, actively providing support as needed.
- The role involves working with highly vulnerable individuals, exposing the incumbent to unpredictable or undesirable behaviours.
- The position requires you to work mostly evening and weekends.
